Company Issues Allergy Alert To Those With Milk Or Soy Sensitivities

We all tend to trust that the food we eat is safe for us. Nobody goes to the grocery store expecting to buy something that will prove harmful – or even deadly. Unfortunately, more and more companies across the U.S. are making it into the news for producing or distributing tainted foods. Their negligence puts innocent people at risk.

Each year, numerous edible products are recalled due to flaws or potential dangers. One of the most recent recalls was announced on October 7, 2015 and reported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This recall concerns whey protein products produced by American Pure Whey.

Although the company is based in North Carolina, its whey protein products have been distributed in Ohio and in many other states. The problem is that these products contain undeclared milk allergens and soy allergens. If you are someone with a milk or soy allergy, ingesting these products could lead to a serious allergic reaction. In a worst-case scenario, the allergic reaction could be fatal.

American Pure Whey apparently had a breakdown in their packaging process. This meant vital information about the whey and soy allergens was omitted from the product packaging and labeling.

Thankfully, this company recognized the problem and is working to recall the tainted foods. However, the same can’t be said for all food manufacturers. Food-borne botulism, salmonella outbreaks, allergic reactions and other food-related problems are often underreported.

If you or a family member was harmed by a tainted or poorly labeled food product, you may have the right to seek compensation through a personal injury lawsuit. A skilled lawyer can advise you of all your legal rights and options when it comes to pursuing justice for your injuries.
